Once again, I was scouting out recipes on pinterest. I came across this little gem from Crazy For Crust. I knew it was love at first sight. I’ve been on an Oreo binge anyhow, so this is right up my alley. I bought off-brand Oreo’s last week and to my disappointment they didn’t soak up milk like those sweet, sweet Oreo cookies. I cannot eat a hard, crunchy cookie without dipping it in milk, coffee, or hot cocoa. Needless to say, Wesley and Lucian will be finishing those buggers off.
I think it all started when I was a little girl. I got my braces on my teeth in third grade and my teeth needed it badly. They were all jacked up and the older boys on my school bus called me walrus. Jerks! Anyway, the braces were painful and I think I cried the entire first month they were on. I stayed with my grandma every weekend and she had a heart of gold. She taught me how to crush up Oreo’s or graham crackers and soak them in a bowl of milk so they didn’t hurt my teeth. That was my bowl of cereal at her house. I packed on the pounds, thanks gram! So, now I didn’t have walrus teeth, just a walrus bod. No, I wasn’t that big. The moral of that little story was it’s my grandmother’s faultthat I love soggy cookies, just in case it got lost in the blabbing.
This Oreo peanut butter was delish on barnum’s animal crackers. My two-year-old son was not impressed that mommy ate some of his animal crackers, but it’s a good lesson of sharing. He knows everyone else needs to share, but often forgets that he needs to.
- 10 Oreo cookies
- 1 + ½ cups honey roasted peanuts
- Coarsely chop the Oreo's.
- Place the peanuts and Oreo's in the food processor and turn on high. Let it go for a couple of minutes. Scrape down the sides and turn on high again.
- Repeat until the Oreo peanut butter is smooth and creamy.
I think this peanut butter spread would be awesome in cake pops. It’s just a thought. I might have to give it a try. If you beat me to it, make sure you comment and let me know how it is.
